European law firm Fieldfisher has expanded its Silicon Valley office to include employment law, enhancing its existing Privacy, Technology and Corporate practices. This move is spearheaded by the relocation of Director Moira Campbell. She joined the West Coast office in August 2024, enabling Fieldfisher to provide comprehensive real-time UK employment advice to Fieldfisher's US clients.

Moira, who joined Fieldfisher in December 2023 in the firm's London office, brings extensive experience in both general and contentious employment law. Moira has advised senior executives and employers across a wide spectrum of employment matters. She is also a specialist advisor on discrimination law and inclusion in the workplace. Notably, Moira was one of the first lawyers to highlight the topic of menopause in employment law, featuring in Davina McCall's Channel 4 documentary on the menopause, as well as the Times and other key publications.

In her new role, Moira will work closely with Corporate Director William Devenish. Together they will focus on international expansion and global growth projects, helping U.S. employers and entities establish and grow in the UK and Europe. Moira will also focus on whistleblowing – leveraging Fieldfisher’s extensive cross-border European experience in this and collaborate closely with the firm’s immigration and incentives teams in the UK. Moira will be providing UK advice to US employers and will work closely with the data and privacy teams who currently work in this office, covering employment law work which is adjacent to privacy.

The Silicon Valley office focuses on advising US clients on UK and European law at all stages of the company lifecycle. It provides on-the-ground UK and European expertise to those launching, scaling and operating outside the United States. The office also brings the breadth of Fieldfisher's pan European offering closer to our US clients by facilitating access to our European based specialists. All lawyers in the office are either registered as foreign legal consultants with the State Bar of California or dual qualified in the EU/ UK and California.

As regulations governing international businesses grow and are constantly increasing in complexity and scope, this additional offering is essential to support the firm's range and breadth of expertise.

It is the groundwork for a new strategy and potential expansion plans in this office which currently acts for a full spectrum of technology sector clients from well-funded US emerging companies through to some of the world's largest technology companies that are headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Director Moira Campbell said of the move: "Since the pandemic, people and employment matters have shot to the top of board agendas and with the evolving legal and regulatory environment in the tech sector, it will remain a priority for our clients.

“This is an exciting time to be on the West Coast, working with innovative and fast-growing businesses as they expand in the UK and wider Europe.”

Mark Webber, Managing Partner of the Silicon Valley office said: "Bringing employment law advice to the West Coast is a pivotal development for us. As we build out our Silicon Valley offerings in response to demand, our strengths in transactions, technology, privacy, and now employment law will ensure clients get timely and comprehensive support, allowing us to better service our client base.'
