Leading european law firm, Fieldfisher has advised InteleTravel, an integrated travel distribution group and homeworking agency, on its acquisition of a majority stake in UK based travel company Major Travel.

InteleTravel is the world’s oldest and largest travel host agency with a global network of 110,000 advisors across the UK, Ireland, USA, Mexico and the Caribbean, with a global annual revenue of $2.5bn. The company also owns the corporate and business travel consortium Hickory Global Partners and MGME, a leading meeting planning and event production company.

Commenting on the deal, Corporate Partner David Wilkinson said:

"We are pleased to have worked with the fantastic team at InteleTravel on this unique opportunity allowing Major Travel to grow significantly by leveraging InteleTravel’s global agent community.  We look forward to seeing how the plans for Major Travel unfold as they look to launch in Ireland in 2024 with further plans to launch a full-service operation in North America in 2025 providing agents access to its rich and extensive product portfolio across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australasia. This was an interesting deal for all those involved with a tight deadline to seek CAA approval and a number of complicated components which come with acquiring a majority stake in a company.  This transaction is yet another example of Fieldfisher's extensive experience within the travel and leisure space which we have seen a real uptick in activity in the last twelve months"

David was assisted by Senior Associate Jaspaul Dhesi in the corporate team and partner Andrew Prowse and solicitor Shamima Khan in the tax team.
